About Zoe
Zoe works on Thursday afternoons and evenings from the Holding Space.
Zoe is an open hearted therapist who believes in people and their capacity to overcome. Her understanding of what is at the root cause of people’s distress is their experiences and how others responded to them during these times. This means that her approach is trauma-informed. She has a passion for facilitating the process of EMDR whilst nurturing your individuality and creativity in the healing process. She will support you on your path to letting go of what burdens you and embracing what fulfils you.
She works using EMDR, which is a targeted therapy that identifies the causes of distress and helps people to move on into a calmer more grounded way of being. It is effective in the recovery of addictions, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex PTSD, a wide range of phobias (eg: flying, driving, dental, public speaking), anxiety, depression, attachment issues and relationship trauma as well as multiple other mental health concerns.

EMDR Therapy in Hackney with Zoe
One of the benefits of EMDR is that you won’t have to recount the trauma in great detail if you choose not to. This is different to other talking therapies. Eye movements and sometimes other forms of bilateral stimulation such as touch (tapping) or auditory (sounds) are used. Even if you are unable to remember the specifics of distressing events EMDR can help your reprocess your experiences so that they don’t continue to negatively impact you.
It might be that the EMDR process can take you to unexpected memories or feelings. This is because our brains can store difficult experiences of feelings in jumbled ways. A unique aspect of EMDR is its ability to access and heal these experiences and feelings without us needing to be fully aware of them.
Zoe has worked in the field of mental health for 17 years mainly in the NHS with some work in charities. She Most recently her work has centred on supporting those who have experienced sexual abuse and those who have come into contact with the criminal justice system.
